Crescendo Components
Weekly Music Classes
Crescendo’s weekly classes help
children with disabilities and disadvantages grow more
capable and confident by using music to enhance
cognitive, motor, communication and socialization
skills, attention span, and self-esteem/
self-confidence. Classroom teachers attend all
Crescendo classes and have completed close to 7,000
questionnaires evaluating those classes. They
report that Crescendo helps more than 95% of children
grow in their abilities and self-esteem.
Parental Involvement Materials
With
funding from The Pew Charitable Trusts, the Academy
developed a Parental Involvement Initiative through
which all Crescendo parents receive CDs filled with
songs to sing with their children and activity books filled
with activities to enjoy with their children.
According to parent surveys, Crescendo gives more
than 95% of participating parents new ways to understand
and help their children.
