Fast Facts

The Academy of Community Music was founded in 1983 by Philadelphia Orchestra violinist Robert dePasquale and his wife, Ellen Fisher.

The Academy is a nonprofit 501(c)3 community music school based in Fort Washington, PA.

Our offices are located on the beautiful and historic grounds of St. Thomas’ Whitemarsh on the corner of Bethlehem Pike and Camp Hill Road.

The Academy reaches over 3,500 people every year at our home base in Fort Washington and throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

In 2001, the Academy received the Great Friend to Kids Award from the Please Touch Museum.

Our Advisory Board features an impressive gathering of famous musical artists, including Yo-Yo Ma, André Watts and Maestro Riccardo Muti.

Collaboration is one of our priorities at the Academy; we have enjoyed partnerships with Musicopia, ArtReach, CBS 3-TV, School District of Philadelphia Head Start Centers, Ken-Crest Early Intervention Centers, Philadelphia Reads, and many more organizations.

On November 15th and 16th, 2008, world-renowned pianist André Watts helped us celebrate our 25th anniversary with a weekend of unforgettable concerts.
