Academy Policies
2006-2007
For Students and
Parents
The Academy is changing many of it's
policies for next school year, please read carefully for all our
new policies!
Private Lessons and Individual Music Therapy
People of all ages and abilities are
able to register for private lessons in a
variety of instruments, as well as
voice, and individual music therapy at
anytime during the year. The School
Year Session runs from September–early June and averages around 35
weeks, with lessons available Monday–Saturday. The Summer Session runs
from mid-June–early August and averages 8-10 weeks, with lessons
available Monday–Thursday.
Student Enrollment
New students can register with
the Academy by calling the office Monday–Thursday between 9am-4pm. You
will receive a conference with an Academy staff member, who will speak
to you about your musical needs and refer an appropriate Community Music
Teacher. Once you are assigned a lesson day and time, that will remain
your lesson day and time for the entire School Year Session. You will
also be automatically enrolled at the same lesson day and time for the
following School Year.
If you need a new
lesson day and time, please call the Academy office to request a
change. You also must call the office if you would like to request a
new teacher or discontinue lessons.
Continuing students’
lesson day and time will remain the same throughout the School Year
Session, unless you call the office to request a change.
You will be automatically enrolled the following Fall at the same lesson
day and time from the previous Spring.
If you need a new lesson day and time, you must call the Academy office
to request a change. You must also call the office if you would like to
request a new teacher or discontinue lessons.
During the
Summer Session ONLY, you may
request a special summer lesson day and time
and select which weeks you will
participate in lessons. Your teacher will discuss which weeks he/she is
available to teach, and will help you complete a form with your summer
lesson requests.
Payment
All students are required to make an
initial
non-refundable payment of $200
before the start of the School Year Session for continuing students, or
upon registration for new students. This payment includes a $40
registration fee and a $160 deposit towards your lessons, and is due
before the first lesson. The remaining payments will be equal amounts,
due on the 1st
of every month through May 1st.
All Community Music Teachers are independent contractors and determine
their own tuition rates. Therefore, your monthly payment will be
calculated once your teacher, lesson day and time have been determined.
If you have an overdue payment, your teacher reserves the right to stop
lessons until the office receives payment.
Summer Session
All students participating in summer
lessons are required to pay a $10 registration fee, plus the
full cost
of their summer lessons. This payment is non-refundable and due before
the first summer lesson or upon registration for new students.
